Splurged a lot this week... I bought a DS, 'cause I just felt like it. :P Still need to pick out some good games for it, though. I picked up Harvest Moon DS and Age of Empires already. I also was tempted by Borders 40% coupon this week, and dropped $50 on books. Mmm, sweet paper-y crack. And I still feel dirty paying full cover price. HPB, you spoiled me!

[info]ariellen and I hung out at MK for awhile on Tuesday... until a massive storm blew in (I got pictures from TTC of just how BLACK it was over MK) and we high-tailed it to DTD. We went to see The X-Files... just as much love the second time! Can I just say again how much Mark Snow's score in that final scene ROCKS? Now I've been kicking back and watching episodes from seasons 6/7/8. Mmmm... sweet. shippy. goodness... (We'll just forget that horrid love letter thing in "Trust No 1" ever happened :P) I need to hit up Gossamer and reread some of those old fanfic classics ("Tempest," "Generations," "The Magician," OMG, way too many!)...

I got Candlelight Processional! I'll be in the alto section, 'cause I decided to take the low end of my range rather than the high end. So come see me if you're in Florida for the holidays!

I came home from work yesterday and thought "my front door looks weird... wait... I never had a screen door before!" Apparently I do now. :P

Oh... and since tonight is preseason game 1... GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!

The bottom line? If you want a classic, creepy X-Files story that'll give you the heebie-jeebies... go see it now! It's far from perfect... but it's just damn good to see them all on the screen again. Mulder and Scully are back, baby!

SciFi Channel had an X-Files marathon on yesterday, but I didn't realize it until the last episode of the marathon was already half over. :( Ah, well, it's been years since I saw "Field Trip."

I finally got Christmas cards done - YAY! They're coming people, really, they are! :D And a huge thank you to everyone who's sent one! ([info]rory_elizabeth - OMG, LOVED the fic!! It was really, really sweet! :D)

I finally finished another drawing! Go me! The idea of Giselle getting into the Christmas spirit is adorable, so I did holidaydress!Giselle. I drew this one during my lunch break the other day, then scanned/cleaned up/colored it in Photoshop. She's a bit too short, but IMHO it's my best tablet success so far. :D

And then the awesome [info]chobit001 then responded with a very squee-worthy Christmas fic that you can read here!!

So, more winning titles from today's shipment at work:
The Big Book of Masturbation
Yep. Exactly what it sounds like! :P
MouthSounds: How To Whistle, Pop, Boing and Honk For All Occasions... And Then Some
A whole book about how to make weird noises. :D

Woooo! Another XF movie article! I wonder if we'll get any explanation of what happened between the end of the series and the start of the movie? I really hope so. And am I the only one totally distracted by the idea of DD auditioning for Full House? I can't get past picturing him trying to be Uncle Joey. XD

Meme yoinked from sana-chan! )

Earth Day is coming up in just five days, and to that end, I thought of a nifty challenge for anyone on my f-list. Do a bit of research on an environmental issue that interests you. On/around Earth day, post an entry to your LJ that talks about the issue - what is is, why it's a problem, what research has been done, whatever floats your boat... but most of all, talk about solutions! What are options? What, if anything, can people do at home? What options do you think are the best and why? As an example of the sort of thing I'm thinking of, see my coyote post from a few weeks ago. It doesn't have to be that in-depth - it can be as basic or as comprehensive as you want! I just think this would be a fun way for everyone to learn something important about the world around us, and a way to really honor Earth Day. :)

I had a bitchy!day today at work. It was one of those days where I have to literally bite back snarkastic replies to everything. Actual examples of things that popped into my head in response to customer comments: "No, that's not the real price. We put fake price tags on there just to confuse you." "When you hang up your damn cell phone and acknowledge me, then I will ring up your purchases." "How about next time you tell me you don't want a bag before I spend five minutes sticking all your books in the bag?" Ah, how I wish I could actually say what I'm thinking... On the bright side, one of our dirty, lecherous old guy customers didn't give me any dirty, lecherous comments today. I think the "talk to me and you die" vibe I was giving off saved me. :P

In need of a good fantasy, I watched Eragon tonight. Okay, so good didn't quite fit the bill. Some of the dialogue was so bad that I suppose it paid appropriate homage to the horrid dialogue in Paolini's original novel. And ooooh, the Eragon/Arya HURTS MY BRAIN. Seriously. Crap. And the kid playing Eragon? His acting was atrocious. But Saphira was fantastic (baby Saphira? CUTEST THING EVAR), beautifully animated. And Rachel Weisz did an amazing job voicing her. Jeremy Irons was a perfect Brom. That man is so sexy, in an old guy way. I think it's the voice. And the surprise for me was the guy playing Murtagh - I really liked him. The cinematography was gorgeous. I'm such a sucker for those grand, sweeping shots along the mountains. Story-wise, I was sad to see some stuff from the original novel go (no mention was even made of Katrena, and she kinda becomes a driving force in Eldest!)... and left wondering why Angela seemed like a skank, and Sloan wasn't really a jerk at all. And where were the dwarves? Also kind of an important part of the story. Bottom line: like the novel, it's very entertaining, but horribly written. Watch it for the fun and the great effects, but I wouldn't expect greatness.

But YAY! Got a call back from the zoo yesterday, and I'm going to be volunteering at Rocky Shores one morning a week! It'll be so nice to get back into the swing of it, and see my whale again! :D

Buh, and am I the only one that didn't know The X-Files was originally supposed to end with this scene of Bush being in on the conspiracy? As amused as I am, I like the Mulder/Scully lovefest better. :P

I was a good girl today! Well, after I got up at 1 pm, anyways. Went for a long run along the waterfront, 'cause it was freaking gorgeous out! Then I came back and read Sparky fanfic, 'cause the recommendations were flying while we all sat around and chatted late into the night last night.

I leave tomorrow, though, 'cause I gotta work tomorrow night. :( I think I'm gonna pitstop on the way home for a bit of birdwatching/photography, though, if this weather holds. And as I was driving up, I noticed that the Disney outlet was back in Burlington again! Yaaaaay! So I definitely gotta stop there. So much cheap Disneyland stuff...

Oh, yeah, and today's "I'll believe it when I see it" X-Files news. Make the damn movie, or shut up about it already! :P

I got "killed" for the first time today! *sniff* I feel like I'm really part of the team, now. :P What we call "getting killed" is when one of the polar bears jumps at you from the other side of the bars, basically in what would be a pounce to kill you if they could get to you. Blizzard "killed" me today. I saw it coming, too, and sat back and watched as he crept up and pounced. Thanks, Blizz! I feel loved! :P

I've totally been on a Flipper (the 1995 series) kick this week. I busted out my old tapes and have been watching the few episodes I have. I really need to burn them to DVD, because the tapes are like ten years old and I think they're starting to go bad. I would cry if I lost those. Or they need to hurry up and put it out on DVD (ha, right, when hell freezes over). I need to make screencaps from those eps and make some icons... *nods* Oh, man, and that show had such wonderful 'ship...

And in a random somewhat-related idea, is it sad that I'm giggling over the fact that there's a pic of David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Anthony Rapp, and Colleen Flynn (Pam, my fave character from "Flipper"), all together in "Detour"? As if that episode wasn't already awesome enough. It's like Kirsten's fandoms, all smooshing themselves together. :P (I should add here that I always called the tech guy in that episode "the really whiny character that needs to hurry up and get offed." Years later I realized that he was played by Anthony Rapp. Go figure. :P) I should go watch that episode again. There is no such thing as watching The Conversation in the Woods too many times.

OMG, and this is one of the most hilarious videos I've ever seen! (thanks to [info]kasatka for passing along the link!) She-Ra and Evil-Lyn singing "What is This Feeling" (with special guest chorus members!)

10 Things Meme )

Okay, I'll stop rambling now. I have to be up for a food prep shift at 4:30... I should probably go to bed. :P
