SGA: First Strike
And now... the end... :(
SGA: First Strike
-...damn, they made Dr. Kaylee look older. At least she's not exactly jumping at the position! ...actually, it's kinda cute. *ducks heavy objects*
-...now Rodney's wearing the BDU shirt, too? It's SO not him.
-SHE CALLED HIM CHUUUUUCK!!!! :D
-I am undecided on what I think of Ellis so far...
-...okay, now I think he's a controlling freak. Lizzie needs to slap him down.
-Ooooooh, questioning Lizzie's authority? ASS.
-I like how when John runs into Lizzie, he looks around like "is anyone gonna hear me asking her over to my room later tonight?" :P
-*huggles Lizzie*
-OMG CGI LOVE. *loves on teh Rainmaker again*
-Do they never stop to think that maybe the Asurans are using more than just their home planet?
-Teyla, honey, you shrunk your shirt again.
-Yeah, a Spiky Satellite of Doom! :P
-Heee! I love John's smug look when Lizzie gives Ellis the smackdown.
-Replicator!Cogsworth!
-Lizzie's talkin' smack. I love it! :D
-Teyla and Lizzie bonding!!!! :D And Lizzie gets a chance to vent! :D
-Awwww! Lizzie's thinking about leaving?! :(
-"Yeee-aaaah, not your call." OOOOOH!! Rodney totally just burned Ellis. WOO!
-Yes, Elizabeth, stand on the BALCONY while it sinks. :P If there was no shield... :P
-"How come you get to be Mr. Fantastic?" *dies* That has to be the best thing Teyla's EVER said.
-"Why don't you guys just make out and get it over with?" OMFG JOHN IS A RODNEY/RADEK SHIPPER!!!! XD
-Heeeeee! Go Major Hottie! Wrangle that asteroid! :P
-EEEEEEE!! FLYING ATLANTIS!!!
-Okay, Ellis is totally a Col. Everett wannabe. He came in, took over, then gave up and kissed Lizzie's ass. Can't they have an original way to antagonize her?
-...what do you DO for a preflight when you're flying a city?! :P
-Wouldn't the beam eventually super-heat the asteroid and shatter it?
-LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
-Damn, stuck in the middle of space!
-NOOOOOOOO! You can't end there!! I wanna know eaxtly what happened to Lizzie!!!

Overall: DAMN good episode. I'm not really an Ellis fan - we've seen that whole routine before, and this was nothing more than rehash. But the main plot... I really loved that it was Atlantis between a rock and a hard place. And they didn't try to reuse all the ideas from the past - they went to new solutions, like sinking the city and freakin' FLYING away. And I really love how they ended it. It was a very novel situation. Not one of those "Oh, noes, we're about to get blown up for the eleventy billionth time!" cliffies... they're stuck in the middle of nowhere in space, with virtually no power.

And of course, the big brouhaha this time over what is going to become of Weir... to be honest, I was rather disappointed in where her storyline was left. She was just kinda carried away by medics and left at that. I was hoping to get some hint of what was going to happen to her, but we really didn't get any of that. I suppose we'll have to wait until next season for that. But she's still ON Atlantis, at least. It's not like she's isolated from everyone else physically, at least at this point...

ETA: I just realized how utterly pointless Elizabeth's injury was. Where was this big sacrifice we were supposed to get? She didn't even do anything. She was just standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. I really hope there's more to it...

I'm still undecided over watching this ep. I wasn't impressed by the last two and they had wraith. I wish the wraith were in the finale. I don't understand why they're not. It's like the Asurans replaced them as the main enemy.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 6th, 2007 07:28 pm (UTC)
I'm with you - I'm really a Wraith fan. I think they're the ones that made the show. That said, I think this episode was pretty fantastic in its own right. :)

Yey another wraith fan! :D

Lol, I thought the same thing about Elizabeth's little walk on the balcony. :D I loved the Rodney/Radek comment, I couldn't believe he actually said that! :)
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 6th, 2007 07:31 pm (UTC)
It took me a moment to remember that they had the shield up... and I was all "...she's not going to be offed because she's stupid enough to walk out on the balcony, is she?" :P After all, a PhD doesn't necessarily mean one has common sense. ;)

I was surprised that they said it, too! It struck me as a shout-out to all the slash fans out there. :P

Lol, me too! 'Wait, she can't be that stu-...oh...I get it...'. I can't say that watching a giant wave/mass of water rise over me would be my idea of a good time, but she evidently got a kick out of it! :)

I would have loved that comment to have been aired before Pegasus 2. I've no doubt the actors' reactions to any questions about it would've been hilarious. :)
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 6th, 2007 08:30 pm (UTC)
I'd probably be fascinated (hey, I'm a scuba diver), but at the same time I'd probably be terrified, even knowing that there was a shield over my head. :P

We've still got Creation in Vancouver next month! ;)

She's got balls, I'll give her that.

Don't be dumb like me and forget everything, lol. I need to knooowwwwww everything!!!!! :D
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 12:47 am (UTC)
Ah, I doubt I'll get to make it to the con itself... but I'll pic everyone else's brain! :P
Sally: Lizzie - smitten[info]mizz_magenta on February 7th, 2007 12:25 am (UTC)
Especially on top of all the wooing over teh kiss, and David's "Can you just let it go already?!" :P

You just know somebody would've stepped up to the mic and said 'Why don't you guys just make out and get it over with?' sometime they were onstage together! :D

LOL! Totally!! :P
Amie: one last look[info]hipapheralkus on February 6th, 2007 08:25 pm (UTC)
Awesome episode! I liked that they were actually being kind of original and not rehashing all their old ideas. I just really wished they let us know something about Elizabeth's condition. I didn't like how they left that either.

I just hope they don't Bates poor Lizzie. You know, stick her in the infirmary never to be heard from again. Cause that'd really really suck.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 6th, 2007 08:33 pm (UTC)
July can't come fast enough! ...I hope it's July, at least! They'd really be under a crunch to show all the back half of season two in three months, and almost go straight into the next season.

They couldn't possibly. I mean, she's been a staple of the show since before Atlantis even began. For her to just kinda disappear would be crazy... They say they have a "big arc" planned for her, but being an X-Files fan who went through Mulder's "big arc" in the end, I'm extremely skeptical.
Amie: spark me[info]hipapheralkus on February 6th, 2007 08:37 pm (UTC)
I really hope it's July. If they push it to something like October, I will NOT be happy.

Well what I mean is, while she's off recovering, she better not be sort of shoved into the background. She deserves better than that. I know she'll be back, I just hope they handle the interum well.
Kirsten: Liz - Waiting[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 12:50 am (UTC)
Me either - I need my Atlantis! It's like crack. Sometimes you get a bad hit, but you keep takin' it.

Yeah, I really hope that's the case. I posted a little "she's not gonna get the Mulder-'major-arc' treatment, is she?" type comment in JM's blog... he allowed the comment through, but didn't respond to it. That worries me more than anything.
Amie: purplesky[info]hipapheralkus on February 7th, 2007 01:37 am (UTC)
He doesn't seem to want to respond to anything related to Elizabeth. It either means very bad news, or he wants to scare us all and doesn't see a point in saying anything. Very secretive, and I don't like it!
Opal[info]oparu on February 7th, 2007 12:05 am (UTC)
Stupid SGA for just hurting people to make us suffer. Yay for Rodney and John for being so concerned. If Keller saves Lizzie, she can stay!
Kirsten: Liz - Oh Noes[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 12:53 am (UTC)
I'd LOVE the Weir!whump that's going on now... if it weren't for the fact that I know of Torri's change in status next year. :( Instead, I'm more concerned with how Weir's storyline is going to play out rather than being at all concerned with the city's predicament. Yet again, TPTB's comments only hurt themselves...

I kinda liked Keller, from what I saw of her. I hope she can save Lizzie!
Sally: Weir - Oh really?[info]mizz_magenta on February 7th, 2007 12:21 am (UTC)
This ep was SOLID. The ending felt rather anti-climatic, and I just feel numb, like "did that really just happen?"

I loved Teyla's "I'm not invisible" line. Methinks TTB are trying to tell us something, lol.

Did they change the lighting? It looked darker, more blue-green (and orange) than blue-silver. And the music was fantastic, as was the CGI.

It's going to be a looooong wait for part two.
Kirsten: Liz - Oh Noes[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 12:56 am (UTC)
I was kinda the same way. Elizabeth's injury (which we all know is going to be critical to the series) was so glossed over that I felt rather cheated. It felt like the episode needed another 5 minutes tacked onto it.

LMAO! That whole conversation was just a riot.

I hadn't noticed a change in lighting, but I missed a lot of little details upon first viewing. I didn't even realize that Liz had actually fallen down the stairs until I saw it mentioned at GW then went back and looked again. :P

*sigh* I am not a patient person...
Sally: Lizzie[info]mizz_magenta on February 7th, 2007 09:16 pm (UTC)
Yeah, after all the big build up, I was like "that's it?" Felt over too quick. And when she was carried away on the stretcher, you could barely see her. I think it may have had more impact had John come in just as they were lifting her, where you could still see her clearly on the ground with the oxygen mask, but not totally covered up.

Really? I gotta go rewatch. I saw her go backwards, and I saw the stairs at the end but never connected that she's gone down them.

Me neither! But it leaves room for mucho speculation, which I've already started with the new ep titles, lol.
Kirsten: Liz - Change[info]xfkirsten on February 8th, 2007 05:14 am (UTC)
That's why I need fic to get me through. :P

See? That's what I said, too. It's so hard to tell from that angle, because the stairs are just below the frame, and you can't really judge distance since she goes straight backwards towards the camera. But I went back and rewatched, and she does indeed go down the stairs. That's a BITCH of a fall.
Sally[info]mizz_magenta on February 8th, 2007 09:33 pm (UTC)
So I rewatched and you're totally right. It's easy enough to see if you're looking for it, but as you say, the camera angle didn't do it justice. I think it would have been better hand the camera travelled down with her, to emphasise the falling sensation.

But yeah, total bitch of a fall! *hugs my Lizzie*

-Teyla, honey, you shrunk your shirt again.

I was kind of having that thought about Dr. Kaylee when we first saw her. ;D

Over all a I liked it.

Rodney was great. I loved his line when he was responding to Elizabeth's order. Something like aye aye captain my captain. Don't remember the exact words.

John's "Why don't you two just make out" line was hilarious. So much for McShep. :D

I'm really interested to see where this goes and what happens to Elizabeth.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 12:57 am (UTC)
LMAO! Dr. Keller did have a kinda skimpy top on, didn't she? :P

Some really great dialogue in this one. If only we got this kind of quality all the time!

I really want to know, too. I don't want to wait so long! *hopes the spoilers come quickly once filming starts*
sg_lab[info]sg_lab on February 7th, 2007 01:01 am (UTC)
Speaking of spoilers, I was so good about this ep. I totally avoided GW until I got a chance to watch. I just clicked onto GW for the first time today and I got an error page. :p
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 01:08 am (UTC)
LMAO! I did the same thing. After the episode began, I was under a salf-imposed "no GW until I see it" rule. Which wasn't til this morning... got a few review posts in at GW, and then it crashed and hasn't been back up all day. :P

Actually, I did just get in and read a few posts a couple of minutes ago... then lost it again. :(
Fi[info]muldy on February 7th, 2007 01:26 am (UTC)
I have abandoned Atlantis as of last night. WTF was that??

*shrugs*

*goes onto better shows*
Kirsten: Liz - Waiting[info]xfkirsten on February 7th, 2007 01:36 am (UTC)
At this point, I'm still watching tentatively. Whether or not I continue to watch really depends on what happens with the Weir storyline, I think. We know so little about it that it could truly be a major arc that gets her good story time... or it could be a season 8/9 Mulder-esque "major arc." We just don't know at this point, and that frustrates me more than anything.
Fi: lizzie[info]muldy on February 7th, 2007 01:38 am (UTC)
The thing is I WANT to care? I want to watch Atlantis...and if Torri's in it I probably will cos Torri is a nice person.

But then again I watch 'The Saddle Club' (crappy kids show bout horses) cos my friend is in that so that's not really saying much...

The thing is everytime I've watched Atlantis recently I've either come of the episode going 'OMG I was so bored I totally didn't pay attention to a single thing that happened' or really pissed off at how they ruined my favourite show.

I figure it's safer not to watch at all...
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 8th, 2007 05:03 am (UTC)
Oh, if Torri stays with the show, I'll definitely keep watching, hands-down. :) She's won a loyal fan in me, that's for sure. :)

Hee! I think that series is based on books, no? Or the other way around? Either way, I think I've seen "Saddle Club" books at the bookstore I work in.

It happens to everyone at some point or another - what was once neat is suddenly not intriguing anymore, be it because of bad writing or just a change in interests. :)
Sunny: SGA Lizzie wrap me up[info]sunny_serenity on February 7th, 2007 07:37 pm (UTC)
Can't they have an original way to antagonize her?

Did you just use the word 'original' in conjunction with SGA? o__0

I want the Wraith! *stamps foot* I miss the pretties. :( And that was such a SUCKTASTIC 'sacrifice'. I may just have to follow my trend of watching ONLY the Lizzie eps for next year. *iz sad* *sings* I used to love yoooooooouuuuuuuuuu... *iz disappointed* I'm taking Gero off the yay!list. *wanders into fanonland*
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on February 8th, 2007 05:06 am (UTC)
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to confuse people by associating "original" with Atlantis. ;)

I want the Wraith back, too!! :(
