I tend to be pretty lenient on my episode reviews - even the ones that people hate widely (eg Irresistible) I tend to look on more favorably. But not this one. The sad thing was, I don't think it was necessarily a bad episode - it was just boring as all hell to me. Five minutes into it, I was already looking for something else to do while I watched.

[info]luisa_f pointed out in the episode thread for The Ark that Elizabeth should be more involved, and Ken Cuperus replied, saying that she actually will be going off with the team in "Submersion" (although he hinted that she may like staying in Atlantis better afterwards, grrr...) So at least there's that to look forward to! I must admit, though - I find myself in the growing numbers of fans that have trouble really getting into episodes where Weir is virtually non-existent.

Your icon is exactly right! :P It wasn't a bad episode, but I just didn't care. It was such an overused idea - dying civilization tries to take out their benefactors as well. What's with all the random aggression from these people? Can't they just once meet a dying civilization that's not hell-bent on taking out the 'Lanteans for no apparent reason? And what's with Teyla being reduced to the damsel in distress? She did nothing in this episode other than play the hostage. SNORE.

*is sad* You know, maybe they should have spaced out some of these team-minus-elizabeth eps throughout the season. The first half of season 3 had lots of Lizzie and this half, not so much. It's like we're in drought season of something. *grumbles*

Oh well, I DL'd it, but it had no sound, so I suppose I'll just wait till later. I heard SG-1's ep was all kinds of wonderful though, so I can at least remain excited for that!

I agree - I'm not going to say we've been totally lacking in Elizabeth this season, because really, we haven't. For an ensemble show, she's gotten a fair amount of screen time this season. I still just get rather bored when she's not present. :P

I've dl'ed SG-1, but haven't had a chance to watch it yet!

*bows* ;) It was such a generic sci-fi show - nothing about it screamed "Atlantis" to me - you could have done the exact same show with the exact same dialogue and just changed the character names and you wouldn't have any clue that it was Atlantis-related.

That's my reaction too, episodes without Elizabeth bore me, I like the Sheppard/Weir/McKay dynamic, or her with one of the guys, but even if I love the boys it can get so boring. And I'm tired of having to put up with so many episodes with no Elizabeth.
I'm glad so many people were saying that it was boring at GW, so the weir haters look like ass kissers, idiots "oooh it was so good, the bestest" morons.

Someone needs to stop me from watching this when it airs on Sci-Fi. I know I'll feel like everyone here because I want Elizabeth, then Sparky, then Elizabeth/John/Rodney in my episodes. Oh, and a decent storyline please!
