Overall: Another winner!! Of course, the whole whale thing had me totally biased to begin with. It was like TPTB was INSIDE MY HEAD, and I was watching all the fic ideas I dreamed up playing out onscreen. I really hope we see Sam return in the future, even if just for little bits. It'd be a cute story to follow through on. LOVE. It had Sparky, it had Spanky. LOVE IT.

I also gotta say, the irony of whale sonar killing people is so slap-you-in-the-face, I can't decide if it was intentional or if TPTB did that on accident. For those who may be unaware, the US military has been doing a lot of work in recent years using loud sonar. Scientists are finding, though, that this sonar may be extremely dangerous to whales, and that more than one mass stranding/death may be attributed to the Navy's use of sonar. It's a HUGE point of contention between the military and marine biologists these days. There's good articles about it here and here. I would KILL to get the chance to ask TPTB if that was done intentionally. I'm SO bummed right now that Joe Mallozzi no longer posts on GW.
