More from Vancouver!
So I slept in awhile yesterday, then got up and went out for breakfast and headed over to Grouse Mountain. Oh, man, I'd forgotten how spectacular the view from there is!
They have grizzly bears on exhibit there now, too. EEEE! They were very cute and active. Their exhibit is GORGEOUS, too. It's huge, and it's really, really natural-looking! Apparently it's an experiment to see if the bears can be contained just by a few lines of electrified wire, and if they can use the space they have to find their own food. That way when an orphaned cub is found, they can set up electrified wire nearby and keep it in that pen until it's big enough to be able to survive.
I wandered down the eco walk an spent an hour or so exploring that. Such a pretty trail! I went back to the main chalet and watched a movie they have going about the bears from the Discovery Channel (called Animal Tracks). It was fun to see, because everyone in the room was really into it. People were actually learning things from it! *gasp* :P
I stopped for food after that and sat out staring at the view for a bit, then decided to go back and look at the bears some more. They were still out and being active! That's pretty impressive. Sadly, the chairlift that goes up to the very top was closed, so at the last minute I decided to just hike it to the top. Man, that is one steep hike! It was so worth it, though. The view from the top is just so amazing!
Raced back down to the car after that (as much as one can when you're at the top of a mountain) and back across the bridge (of course, also getting stuck in rush hour traffic over the bridge). Met up with Fi, and we stopped for dinner. We went downtown to a pub on Nelson to hear some of her friends from work play. It was a cool little pub! Had a few drinks, heard some music... a relaxing evening. And some dude from The 4400 showed up at the bar, but I don't watch that show so I have no idea who he was. He was hot, though. :P Mmmmmm...
So apparently T.O. tried to commit suicide last night or something? I really don't know what to think of it - given the dodgy reports, I can't decide if it was an honest attempt or a publicity stunt, given his history. Personally, I'd believe the police reports over whatever crap his publicist makes up, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was all set up from the beginning, either.
