McKay and Mrs Miller
Okay, no play-by-play on this one, but here's overall thoughts...

Love love LOVE this episode! A wonderful mix of humor and seriousness. The fact that Rodney's real name is "Meredith" was just AWESOME. I really, really liked Jeannie. She was fun and smart and totally down-to-Earth. Writing the equations in finger paint? Priceless! I really hope we get to see her again in the future! Her interaction with Rodney was hilarious. VERY much a brother and sister act. I also really loved the moment at the end where he says goodbye to her - hooray, character growth! :D

The end scene was great! I loved that the team really came around and admitted that they liked their own Rodney better. The way that Teyla reacted to John's comment about having a crush on a Marine was hilarious, mainly because that's TOTALLY the way that so many girls I know would react. (I refrain here from commenting on what it means for ship, because I honestly don't think it means anything either way) It was just an all-around great bonding scene for the team - we need more of that!

No more ZPM! Huzzah! I LOVE that it makes them so much more isolated. Granted, they still have the Daedalus, and there's the threat of that intergalactic bridge, but for the meantime they're more or less on their own with little power. I like it that way!

The final word? Two thumbs up from me, yet again! This season is turning out to be fantastic!

OH yeah I totally forgot Teyla like stamped on his foot!! That was awesome! *loved it* They need more friendship moments like that :)

This season they seem to be focusing a lot on showing the bonds between the character, we've had much more friendship moments. Don't you love it how we can practically feel the love these people feel for each other permeating through the screen?.

I do I absolutely love it! Like we had it at the beginning of season 1 when they were getting to know each other, with the football thing and it just seemed to disappear as they got caught up in telling stories...

But now its awesome.

*hugs them* They're all so cute and adorable!

They really do! That's the kind of team-bonding stuff we've missed.

Sounds good from what I've heard! Especially Rodney and his sister.

And go on, say what it means for Ship! Tell me that ship is dead!!
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on September 10th, 2006 09:11 pm (UTC)
It's definitely a great one! :D

That's just it - I don't think it means anything for ship. It was friendly joking. It doesn't imply Sparky, nor do I think it denies Sheyla (I know couples who could easily joke about things like that - all it takes is security in a relationship and feeling comfortable), and Ronon didn't really react to it badly. All in all, it was friendly joking, and despite people talking about what it means for ship, I don't think it means anything at all.

Death to Sheyla!

Okay, maybe that was a little over the top....

I really get the impression tptb are reading what fans want and abiding by their wishes. I loved the ep too and I really hope Jeannie returns also. She's like Rodney but with a more balanced personailty.

Mmmm I wonder which enemy Atlantis will be helplessly under seige from this time? :)

They may very well be. Especially when it's stuff like team bonding that is really something that everyone can agree on. :)

My money is on the Asurans. :P

I LOVE that it makes them so much more isolated

Yeah, it irked me how they could travel to earth and it take them less time than it takes me to get to the store.
I liked the episode, Katie and David were great, but those fake laughs on the cafeteria scenes made me cringe. :S

Yeah, it was TOO convenient. I like the setup we're left with now - we can have contact, but it's VERY limited to the Daedalus. Really adds to the tension in the city.

OMG, yes, I do have to agree with you there. The laughs were TOO over-the-top and corny.

I also LOVED this episode. You're right about the loss of the ZPM; making the colony more isolated is good for the show, really. They can't just get help from the SGC whenever they want it. I loved the bonding in this episode, and I hope we see Jeannie again.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on September 10th, 2006 09:16 pm (UTC)
Yup - it adds to the tension in the city, and forces them to come up with their own solutions rather than rely on the SGC. Yay!

I think I've become a bit burnt out on ship. Particularly the major ships. So I've been writing a fic that while ship is focusing on a less popular pair.

I'm so glad there was no implied ship in the alternate universe.

It was a great episode. I love friendship and familial relationship dynamics.

I hear ya on that. I still like ship, but if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I'd rather see an all-around quality show than anything else.

Oh yeah, and if Sheppard and Weir are in a scene together I'll certainly enjoy it. For me if the characters are still alive at the end of the series and still single I'm quite happy to imagine they got together at some future point.

Forever Knight was the only show that killed the ship. And I mean that literally because they killed the characters at the end of the series.
