So they made me use the PHONE at the Wolf Center yesterday. :P It's no secret that I'm terrified of the phone. Hell, I get scared making calls on my own phone, much less a business call for another facility. It's no secret there, either, and I get my share of good-natured teasing for it. :P But I was working on a project with someone, and I was urged to be the one to make the call. I survived! Yaaaaay! Did mostly office work, and a little bit of chaperoning a group of kids. We made a trek into town in the afternoon to check out a bed and breakfast, and that place was GORGEOUS.

For some reason, since yesterday afternoon I've been feeling really weird/sick. It came on while I was riding in the truck back to the Wolf Center from the trip off-property, when I felt kinda light-headed. I thought maybe it was just my motion sickness being oversensitive (or the quadruple mocha I bought at the coffee shop in town), but it stuck around long after I left for the day. I actually ended up crawling into bed by 6 pm, although I got up periodically after that, checked email til I felt really icky again, then went back to bed (and stayed there after about 10). It was bad enough, though, that I felt nauseous just laying there in bed. Grr. I tried everything I could think of - water because maybe I was dehydrated, food because maybe I just had low blood sugar (memories of one Really Long Night in Orlando remind me of just how nauseous I get if I don't eat when I feel hungry), Sudafed because maybe it was a sinus/ear issue... no cigar, anything I tried. And it certainly wasn't exhaustion - I tossed and turned in bed until amost 3 in the morning. :/

So I slept til about 10:30 this morning, then got up and still felt sick (although marginally better) so I watched cartoons. Dude, the Disney Channel is showing the old Timon and Pumbaa cartoons again! WOO! Saw an ad for Cars, and realized that came out today, so I ran out to see that one.

Cars gets two thumbs up from me! LOVED it! It felt different to me than some of Pixar's past efforts. It felt much more drama-oriented, although it did have its comedic moments. But that was a good thing - I found myself forgetting that they were cars, and really getting emotionally involved in the story. Mater = teh AWESOME. I could have done without one rather predictable Larry the Cable Guy line, but it was blink-and-you'll-miss-it, so I'll live. And OMG, the credits practically had me rolling in the aisles! The short ("One Man Band") is a pretty good one, too. Overall - I DEFINITELY reccommend people check this one out! Pixar wins again!

Feeling a bit better now, although I still get waves of dizziness every so often. My best guess is that it's a mild bug or something, it was just odd that it came on SO suddenly.

My feeling sick was mitigated, however, by MORE promo pics... HOLY CRAP, LOVE THEM!

LEATHER JACKETS AND JEANS!! *brain ceases functioning* Now if only they'd start wearing that stuff on the show. :P I. Love. John's. New. Jacket.

For the probably like two people on my f-list who haven't seen these already: full-size versions here and The Real World stills here!

If we get any more twin similarities, I will start creeping out!! :p I am afraid of talking on the phone too, which is why I'm a text message freak! :p *hugs the not evil twin* :p

Aww! *huggles* yeah, prolly some minor bug. But dude, I know exactly what dehydration feels like! Orlando is the perfect place to get to that state, esp in EPCOT costumes ;). Hope you will feel great soon ('cause you're already feeling betteer!)

Cars came out today? Ah well I didn't go to see it, I prolly will though... ;)

PROMOS are teh hotness! Leather! *dies* OMG is that Atlantis or BSG? ;)
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 02:13 am (UTC)
The phone is EVIL INCARNATE! :P ...why can't I be the evil twin? :P

Oh, yes, I got dehydration a number of times in Orlando! And I got sick in the bushes outside the McDonalds at Downtown Disney last night once, when I hadn't eaten enough. :P

You definitely should! Last I heard, there's CM discounts on movie tickets at the AMC theater at Downtown Disney! ;)

They're taking a page from Farscape's love of leather! ;)
Anastasia[info]zerofantasym on June 10th, 2006 08:14 am (UTC)
Because you're not evil enough! mwahahaha ;)

There is Downtown Disney in California? Well dude, EAT! :p Though I don't eat enough myself - no time!!

I'm so going to that theather! :D

I need practice then! :P *raises her badness level*

Yup! It's not as big as the one in Florida, though. Maybe half the size. I made a typo, though, I meant it happened when I was on my CP in Florida. :P

*hugs* Awww honey i hope it's nothing important, just look at the lovely pictures, the leather is magic *nods* i feel kind of high and giggly looking at those pics.
And i have a phobia of phones too, my face gets all hot when i have to use them, and i sweat a lot, it's weird, i never use the phone unless it's an emergency and i absolutely have to.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 02:19 am (UTC)
They were certainly a welcome distration when I felt crappy last night! ;)

I get REALLY nervous, and my voice gets shaky and I stumble over my words. My phone calls tend to have their shares of awkward silences! I think it's just something about not being able to see the person that I'm talking to that makes me nervous.
luisa_f[info]luisa_f on June 10th, 2006 02:36 am (UTC)
I understand you, my hands get sweaty, and i press the phone so hard that my ear hurts. And i never know what to say, i'm like "uhu.. yeah... mmm". I don't know why, but i get really nervous too, it's comforting knowing i'm not the only one :P.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 02:52 am (UTC)
That's me, too - I feel so awkward!

Alright, one down, one flist-er to go. ;)

I've been trying to resist the urge to read or view any spoilers, but slowly I'm starting to cave...
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 02:54 am (UTC)
LMAO! You cannot resist! Come to the Dark Side! :P I'm such a sucker for spoilers. And pictures are double-trouble, because I can't resist Teh Pretties. Teh Pretties + spoilers = does Kirsten in.

Aw, *huggles* feel better soon! Dizziness is no fun, believe me I know.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 02:55 am (UTC)
Not at all! :( I keep stuffing my fact and dumping bottles of water down my throat, hoping that something will help...
almandot[info]almandot on June 10th, 2006 03:12 am (UTC)
sooo... what are they doing? sending shopping lists through the gate for someone to pick them up at nordstrom's or what? they need to answer these important issues before they do anything else in the series! ;)

I noticed around the web a whole bunch of negative film reviews on Cars and thought to myself "Uh oh... bad reviews for da vinci code and x-men 3 so far... are they going for a 'we suck and our reviews are absolutely pointless' trifecta?" and ta da! =D I think they just give negative reviews now because so much stuff is bad and so 90% of the time they're right and the public thinks they're good reviewers.. why take a risk ;)
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 10th, 2006 03:21 am (UTC)
No, silly! Whenever they're back on Earth, the girls have big shopping sprees. And they drag the guys along, too, and the guys have to endure hours and hours of shopping. :P

...now I totally have a mental image of Weir and Cadman dragging Sheppard and Beckett through store after store, on a massive girly shopping spree. :P

The reaction from others that I've heard so far on Cars (through online boards) has been very positive, so the Disney fans are certainly enjoying it at least! I don't think it's the greatest film that Pixar's done, but when one considers the caliber of their other films, that's not exactly a desparaging remark. :P

that'd so make a great short fic :P

It so would! :P

Awww hope you feel better *huggles*

I am dying to see cars. From what I see and hear it's awsome. I just got the soundtrack today because I couldn't hold myself back. Country lover dream. The music alone is awsome

*dies over the promo pics* did you see this manip from john_elizabeth? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v655/Iago_22/Stargate/sparkymanip.jpg

*huggles* Feeling better today! Course, sleeping til 1 probably didn't hurt. ;)

You've GOT to see Cars! I think you'd love it!

Oh, yes, and I had that tab open in Firefox a lot so I could just stare at it! ;)

*nods* Talking on the phone bothers me, too. I used to be able to do it for up to six hours at a time (and good grief that sounds dirty) but now I avoid it whenever I can, mostly because it seems to use up much more energy than talking in person and I tend to start stammering and leaving the ends off sentences. :-/

It's not starting to heat up where you are, is it? 'Cause that might be another reason why you'd feel sick. Goodness knows I would've been myself if I had had to go anywhere in yesterday's heat. *huggles*
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 11th, 2006 02:46 am (UTC)
No, in fact, that's the odd thing - it's actually COLDER this week than it has been! It barely broke 70 all week. :/
Fishy[info]calusa on June 12th, 2006 04:41 am (UTC)
I hated phones for a long time, too.

Cars.. eh.. I liked it, but I think we were a little too excited and hyped up for it, and were actually a little disappointed. but it was cute, and I would see it again.
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 12th, 2006 07:31 pm (UTC)
I agree, I think it did get a bit overhyped. Not one of the best that Pixar's done, but considering the quality of their other films, that's not exactly saying it was bad. :)
Andy: fangirl[info]ankareeda on June 13th, 2006 10:53 pm (UTC)
I hope you're completely fine now?! *hugs*

Hehe, I hate phones TO DEATH! *ggg*

Cool, I wanna see Cars, too, but I have to wait till early September. *pouts*

And the promos are utterly hot! *drools*
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on June 14th, 2006 09:34 pm (UTC)
Yup, feeling much better! Just back to my average migraines. :P

Text messages save my rear, 'cause they're so much easier than talking on phones.

Agh! That would drive me nuts, living in a country that didn't get movies until later like that!

Yes they are!
