...and then there were four...

That's right, we're down to just four crew members left at Cirque. We're having severe trouble even forming a crew each day, now that school's starting up for people. Crew chiefs are coming in to fill as regular crew. It's a mess. And it doesn't help when certain people call in "sick."

*rolls eyes* Apparently, he asked to leave early yesterday, and due to the crew shortage, he was told no. Magically, five minutes later, her was "really sick." He was told tough, get a drink of water. He went to Med Services and whined, and Med Services said he had to go home. Magically, he left in a very perky, happy mood. He called in sick again today. It's such bullshit, and I feel almost sorry for our management, who is too damn stupid to call him on his bluff. IMHO, they shouldn't even schedule him. At least then they're ready to cover a short-handed day, rather than him springing it at the last minute. One of the performers put it perfectly today: "What a dick!" Sing it, sistah.

What really pisses me off, though, is that the lead team is all on his side. Whenever something goes wrong, and we fight, they all take his side and try to convince me that my anger is unfounded and unreasonable. They think that they can talk me into being so nice to him, because he's just making a mistake. NO. It is not "just" a mistake anymore. It's reckless bullshit is what it is. It brings the rest of us down. His whining and trying to leave early and not showing up for work is just unprofessional bullshit. Then when he does show up, he tries to shortcut so horribly that all he does is make a mess of the place. GOD DAMMIT, FIRE ANDY. NOT THE GOOD CREW MEMBERS!

Anyways, because of their stupidity, I'm working nearly 60 hours this week. I'd probably be working 70 hours if I weren't in class all day Friday. That's pretty much every waking minute at either school or Cirque this week. Dear God, I'm going to die. I've stopped caring if the leads catch me napping between shows at work anymore. I think only one of them would actually get me in trouble, but at this point, I really don't care if she catches me napping, either. I'm fucking tired, and if you don't like it, then stop scheduling me so much.

The summer is catching up to me, in a very bad way. My upper left arm has been sore for the last couple of weeks, but it got BAD this weekend. Early Saturday morning (like, 4am), I woke up and had pain shooting down my arm. I tried everything, no position made it stop hurting. I dragged myself to the bathroom and dumped Ibuprofen down my throat. It hurt so much that I still couldn't fall asleep for another hour after that. At other times, it's fine. It's so random when it starts hurting. Anyways, I went to Med Services today, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong because the flare-ups are so random. They drugged me up on more Ibuprofen, and I've been told to stay away from stuff that aggravates it - mainly, the Zorbs. Makes my day a bit easier, but it's still annoying as hell when I'm standing around and the rest of the crew is working their asses off doing the heavy stuff. I feel bad.

To make matters worse, I got really sick last night. I was fine and peppy, then all of a sudden I lost all drive to do anything. And I mean anything. I literally sat on the floor and just stared at the wall. Within minutes, I lost even the strength to sit up, so I laid down on the floor. Shortly thereafter, I felt really, really dizzy. Clawed my way to the bathroom (a whole five feet away, if you've seen my apartment) and bowed before the porcelain god. I didn't even have the strength to get back to my own bed (again, a whoppin' five feet away) after that. I slept on the bathroom floor. I felt a bit better this morning - no dizziness, but I still feel really weak, even now. No rest for the weary, though...

Anyways, amidst all this, I've at least had a bit of fun. Friday night there was a party that was mainly Cirque cast/crew. That was fun. Had a lot of alcohol, stayed out late... good times. Then Saturday afternoon, there was a BBQ for SG-Command.net folks. Lots of fun there - good food, fun Stargate discussions. And a mad cool Stargate museum, LOL!

To [info]christmassong, [info]riverscohen, [info]chris00seven, [info]irrawaddyerik, and anyone else in Louisiana, please, PLEASE stay safe!

Kirsten! we so need to talk about Stargate! I'm a fan for life now and so, therefore, need to scream about it to anyone who'll listen! Check the Icon! Micheal Shanks is so the nicest guy ever! *gush* What's you're IM? I'm GundamW2101. Oh, You know, just in case you don't recognise the LJ name, it's me, SumarSummers/Gilly/Heather. Just so you know I'm not some random hanger-on.

Hey! I didn't know you had an LJ! Awesome!! :D

I am soooo addicted to Stargate! Almost three years of addiction now! :P You got to hug Michael Shanks! Eeee! :D He's so gorgeous! The only SG-1 cast member that I've met in person is Ben Browder, and that was long before he did Stargate. :P I got a hug from Jason Momoa and I got o shake hands with Joe Flanigan and Paul McGillion of Atlantis, though! :D

The guy who hosted the BBQ yesterday has soooo many props and costumes from the show. It's amazing. We helped him move a piece of the Gate's coverstone from the original movie! :P

Forgot to add - my IM screenname is JediUlises, but I haven't been on it hardly at all lately. Stupid work!

See? Work crap? At least you've had the guts to address the situation, even if it's not being resolved. Incompetent co-workers suck, I've quit so many jobs in the past because of them. I like quitting things, it's dramatic and stuff. Don't quit Cirque, it seems like a really good deal for you aside from the ridiculous hours, unpleasant co-worker, and dumb management. It has voids, you know?
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on August 29th, 2005 05:52 am (UTC)
I've come close to quitting a couple of times, but couldn't being myself to do it. And I certainly won't now, with the end so close...

Maybe his last name is really Busch. =P

I hope you can hang in there long enough for everybody else to figure it out. No other advice beyond that because you've probably said it all already. =P

You should probably friends lock this post... I mean, if they were watching psycho-bitch and our forums, I'm sure they look for whatever else they can find.

I just keep hoping that they start cutting the end-of-summer people sooner rather than later. Doubtless, there'll be some cool people leaving, but at this poitn I just want to see him gone.

I thought about friends locking it... then decided that I really am too tired to care what they think anymore. I've basically told them to their faces as much as I've posted here anyways. (Notice, also, that this is the first time I've given a name to him here on LJ...)

You know...you should kill that guy. Just...shove him in a tank with some hungry animals and forget about him.

And holy schnaz, dude. You've had one hell of a few days. Take care of yourself and don't force yourself to do anything if you feel bad. You work your ass off enough to deserve a small break. Take a nap where you want, say what you want, piss where you want--you've deserved it.

And usually when I am in pain, I take Ibuprofen and get an electric messager for the pain, so while I am sleep it just shakes the pain away. *nods*
Kirsten[info]xfkirsten on August 30th, 2005 03:32 am (UTC)
Well, the performers DO just piss in the bay in the middle of the show. Seriously. :P Maybe they've got the idea right... ;)

I went to Med Services again today and loaded up on lots more Ibuprofen. I think I'm stocked for awhile! :P
