...and then there were four...
That's right, we're down to just four crew members left at Cirque. We're having severe trouble even forming a crew each day, now that school's starting up for people. Crew chiefs are coming in to fill as regular crew. It's a mess. And it doesn't help when certain people call in "sick."
*rolls eyes* Apparently, he asked to leave early yesterday, and due to the crew shortage, he was told no. Magically, five minutes later, her was "really sick." He was told tough, get a drink of water. He went to Med Services and whined, and Med Services said he had to go home. Magically, he left in a very perky, happy mood. He called in sick again today. It's such bullshit, and I feel almost sorry for our management, who is too damn stupid to call him on his bluff. IMHO, they shouldn't even schedule him. At least then they're ready to cover a short-handed day, rather than him springing it at the last minute. One of the performers put it perfectly today: "What a dick!" Sing it, sistah.
What really pisses me off, though, is that the lead team is all on his side. Whenever something goes wrong, and we fight, they all take his side and try to convince me that my anger is unfounded and unreasonable. They think that they can talk me into being so nice to him, because he's just making a mistake. NO. It is not "just" a mistake anymore. It's reckless bullshit is what it is. It brings the rest of us down. His whining and trying to leave early and not showing up for work is just unprofessional bullshit. Then when he does show up, he tries to shortcut so horribly that all he does is make a mess of the place. GOD DAMMIT, FIRE ANDY. NOT THE GOOD CREW MEMBERS!
Anyways, because of their stupidity, I'm working nearly 60 hours this week. I'd probably be working 70 hours if I weren't in class all day Friday. That's pretty much every waking minute at either school or Cirque this week. Dear God, I'm going to die. I've stopped caring if the leads catch me napping between shows at work anymore. I think only one of them would actually get me in trouble, but at this point, I really don't care if she catches me napping, either. I'm fucking tired, and if you don't like it, then stop scheduling me so much.
The summer is catching up to me, in a very bad way. My upper left arm has been sore for the last couple of weeks, but it got BAD this weekend. Early Saturday morning (like, 4am), I woke up and had pain shooting down my arm. I tried everything, no position made it stop hurting. I dragged myself to the bathroom and dumped Ibuprofen down my throat. It hurt so much that I still couldn't fall asleep for another hour after that. At other times, it's fine. It's so random when it starts hurting. Anyways, I went to Med Services today, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what's wrong because the flare-ups are so random. They drugged me up on more Ibuprofen, and I've been told to stay away from stuff that aggravates it - mainly, the Zorbs. Makes my day a bit easier, but it's still annoying as hell when I'm standing around and the rest of the crew is working their asses off doing the heavy stuff. I feel bad.
To make matters worse, I got really sick last night. I was fine and peppy, then all of a sudden I lost all drive to do anything. And I mean anything. I literally sat on the floor and just stared at the wall. Within minutes, I lost even the strength to sit up, so I laid down on the floor. Shortly thereafter, I felt really, really dizzy. Clawed my way to the bathroom (a whole five feet away, if you've seen my apartment) and bowed before the porcelain god. I didn't even have the strength to get back to my own bed (again, a whoppin' five feet away) after that. I slept on the bathroom floor. I felt a bit better this morning - no dizziness, but I still feel really weak, even now. No rest for the weary, though...
Anyways, amidst all this, I've at least had a bit of fun. Friday night there was a party that was mainly Cirque cast/crew. That was fun. Had a lot of alcohol, stayed out late... good times. Then Saturday afternoon, there was a BBQ for SG-Command.net folks. Lots of fun there - good food, fun Stargate discussions. And a mad cool Stargate museum, LOL!
